About Us About Us
The Old Gilchrist Jail Ghost Hunters is a group of individuals with diverse backgrounds, united by the common curiosity of the existence of life in the realm beyond.
We conduct investigations using proven and innovative unproven methods to determine the existence, or lack thereof, of spirits, who have remained in houses, offices, campgrounds, jails, cemeteries or any other places that show signs of having a residential haunt. We are committed to maintaining an open mind to all possibilities and opinions.
Our Mission Our Mission
It is our mission to explore the possibility of the existence of ghosts in public and private houses, buildings and other areas.
It is our duty to explore all evidence with the technology that is available to us with an open mind, but not without suspicion.
Our goal is to educate ourselves and all other interested parties about spirits who have crossed over, yet for some reason remain earthbound.

Janelle Profant
Lead Investigator/Secretary/ Case Manager
Janelle's interest in the paranormal started at a young age. She always loved hearing ghost stories when she was growing up and longed to have her own experience.
Her wishes came true when she had the pleasure of staying the night at Myrtle's Plantation in Louisiana. She was able to catch the image of a Civil War solider in the mirror and then was awoke in the middle of the night by the sound of a little girl laughing in her room.
After this experience, it led her on a quest to the find the truth . She has been investigating for the last five years and has attended several paranormal conventions and classes. With the knowledge and tools that she has acquired, she hopes to come closer to the truth.

John Klopfer
Lead Investigator/ Trainer
John has been curious about the paranormal ever since he can remember. Even though he was raised in a traditional household, he has always looked to the unknown. He has been engaging in official ghost hunts for over seven years. His search has taken him all over the Southeast United States, as well as Bimini and Mexico. Though a believer, he considers himself a skeptic in that he wants to rule out all other possibilities. It is his philosophy not to criticize anyone elses' experiences or opinions. During his journey he has cataloged over 5000 pictures he describes as suspicious.
Member - Michelle Michelle Masters
Lead Investigator/ Cheif Editor of OGJ Newsletter
Michelle's interest of the paranormal came from listening to the stories about the experiences that her family members had with ghosts. She had her own experience as a child, but to this day, she does not remember what happened. After joining the OGJ group, she has had some encounters with spirits.
She is a Registered Pharmacy Technician and she is currently working in a psychiatric facility, which has given her more insight into the workings of the mind. She has a scientific approach to investigating and she looks forward to the day that we can explain the paranormal with scientific proof.

Nicki Sykes
Investigator/Web Designer/ Trainer In-Training
Nicki grew up loving the chills and thrills of the unknown. Brought up with an unquenchable thirst for ghost stories and horror movies, she has always been a firm believer of the paranormal and has had the personal experiences over the years to back up her beliefs.
Bumps in the night, boogeymen, dettached voices; nothing could detour her need for the strange, the spooky, and the anxious taste of fear.
Joining the group under the influence of her mother (Renee Sykes), she seeks the answers needed to prove, or disprove, the thing that has interested her since early childhood; life after death.
She is an artist and does commissioned pieces, as well as making jewelry.

Wish List Wish List
There is nothing on our Wish List at this time.
Equipment List 1 .35 MM Camera
35 MM Cameras are useful due to the fact that they use film and therefore produce negatives.
The theory is that if it's actually in the picture, it's on the negative. If there is a spirit or apparition showing up in the picture, it will not be in the negative.
Digital Camera
Digital cameras take higher quality photos than film-loaded cameras, but the major flaw is that it picks up more orbs of dust or pollen in the photographs.
Digital Video Recorder System
Also called a DVR; this system allows the usage of Infra-Red lights and cameras throughout a location, and allows images to be played back for live viewing on a computer moniter.
The hard drive also records everything caught on camera for later reviewing.
The cameras hooked up to the DVR are very sensitive to light and images are easily marred by white surfaces and anything reflective.
Equipment List 2
Digital Voice Recorder
Digital Voice Recorders are used to pick up EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). This device is used the same way as a tape recorder, but is much more effective than an tape recorder.
The digital recorder can record longer than a tape, is far more clear than a tape, and has more functions than a tape recorder.
Dowsing Rods
Dowsing Rods were originally made to find ground water in the Fifteenth Century, but have become debated equipment for paranormal investigators and researchers.
The theory is that ghosts/spirits give off spiritual energy. In the case of using Dowsing Rods, the rods cross or uncross, depending on energy levels in the air, therein possibly signifying the company of a ghost/spirit.
EMF Detector
Also known as a K2 Meter, EMF being short for 'Electro-Magnetic Field'; these devices are used to measure electro-magnetic fields in the area.
One theory is that ghosts/spirits need energy to manifest. Since these devices pick up on energy fields, it is believed that one can pick up their energy and determine if they are present.
Investigators also use this device to communicate with ghosts/spirits by asking them to come close to it to set the meter off.

Equipment List 3 Full Spectrum Video Camera
Some researchers have discovered that spirits can be filmed outside our visible spectrum.
This device allows an investigator to see outside that visible spectrum and see the full light spectrum from UltraViolet to Infra-Red.
IR Digital Camera
Investigators us an infra-red digital camera to see in the dark without using a flash. With this device, they are able to see outside the normal visible spectrum.
IR Game Camera
These cameras have a built-in motion sensor that will take photos in the dark without a flash when something moves in front of it.
The camera also displays the time, temperature, and moon phase of when the photo was taken.
Equipment List 4
IR Light
Infra-Red lights are used to help brighten up an area for night vision equipment.
IR Thermometer
This device measures the temperature of an area to help the investigators see if there are any temperature fluxuations.
ITC Devices
Instrumental Transdimentional Communication Devices are used to communicate with ghosts/spirits via a built-in dictionary in which they are believed to be able to access through certain amounts of energy usage.
Other terms for these devices are Pucks, PX Devices, Ghost Radars, Ovulus, and Ghost Boxes.

Equipment List 5
Laser Grids
The laser pen comes with an assortment of changeable attachments, one of which is a grid (a massive multitude of small beams of laser light which appear on surfaces in dot form).
The device throws out a grid pattern on surfaces and allows investigators to detect movement easily.
Motion Sensors
Some types of motion sensors are extremely sensitive and are thought to be able to detect movement that we can't see with our own eyes.
Multi-Meter
This is an EMF and Temperature gage all in one. This allows to the investigator to use one device to get both readings in an area.
It is also know as a Mel-Meter.
Equipment List 6
Night Vision Video Camera
These cameras allow the investigator to shoot video in the dark.
They come in both stationary and hand-held, though hand-helds are often paired with a regular Point-Of-View video camera.
Parabolic
Parabolic microphones are hand-held sound amplifiers that sometimes allow investigators to hear spirits, or other soft sounds, in real-time without the use of other devices.
They can also be hooked up to digital voice recorders to amplify the sounds and voices caught during EVP sessions.
Radio Frequency Detector
These are used to detect radio frequencies to factor out any contamination to evidence.

Equipment List 7
Trigger Objects
Trigger objects are used to concentrate the emotions of spirits. They can range from anything to rubber balls, to playing cards, to weapons or substance.
Equiment List 8 We are always adding new equipement to our arsenal. Keep an eye out for new pieces!
